Cops and the rest of us

So......I'm driving in today to work and I'm waiting at the lights to turn left. Across the intersection from me is a cop talking on his cell phone. Other than hands free use, cell phone use in a vehicle has been prohibited in Ontario for quite a while. In fact they make a big deal of it posting warning notices etc. The fine is in the hundreds of dollars if caught. But I suppose it's ok for the cops to not have obey this law isn't it?

A friend of mine works at a banquet hall and recently told me that she worked a wedding for two cops that were tying the knot. There were more than a dozen fellow officers in attendance. She said that halfway through the night they were all falling down drunk and then actually threatened the owner when he tried to cut them off. One has to wonder that with a dozen in attendance who was driving home?

So much for leading by example.

So sad

I heard today that Mike Starr, founding member of Alice In Chains has passed away. It's sad and such a waste. He was part of the magic of arguably one of the best melodic hard rock bands of all time. Its a tragedy the power that drugs can have; especially heroin. Sooner or later this drug invariably wins. Its so sad when a human being becomes a statistic.

Now THIS made me laugh.

This was actually on MSNs home page.

Charlie Sheen cannot be fired from his TV show Two and a Half Men for his wild antics because he doesn't have a 'morals clause' in his contract, according to US reports.

The Hollywood bad boy repeatedly hits the headlines for his booze-fuelled benders with porn stars and hookers but it would seem he doesn't have to worry about his pay cheque.

According to gossip site TMZ.com, the hit show's producers Warner Bros. cannot fire him over improper conduct that reflects badly on the show because he doesn't have a morals clause in his contract.

Sources have told the site the actor claims drugs and prostitutes cannot hurt his star salary.

"That's my personal life. My contract protects me. They can't fire me," he has reportedly said.

The show has been on a forced hiatus since the star's latest bender but he reportedly said he wants to go back to work next week.

The only question is: Is there anyone that's concerned that Charlie Sheen is actually in reality  the character he portrays on his show? - LMFAO   It would not be possible for him to be more of a train wreck in real life then he is on the show so what's the problem,?

Sobering statistic

I read in USA today that only 31% of people who use social forums claim to be totally honest.
26% said they fib a little, 22% said they flat-out lie and 21% said they totally fabricate who they are online.
While I'm not really shocked that there are people who do this, I'm a little saddened by the numbers. Really, what is so terrible about being yourself?

It means that 2/3 of the people that I've talked with over the past 3 years are full of crap. What a shame. For my part, whoever they are they got to know the real me.

Enough already! Shut the f*ck up.

To believe or not to believe

Sooooo.....here I am on  a Friday sitting at my desk at work and wanting to be anywhere else (stupid cold!). I've been reading a few stories from the "I'm an atheist" group and it sort of struck me just how similar they are to the very people they complain about. Don't get me wrong, if someone wants to not believe it doesn't bug me in the slightest but I can help wonder at why they waste so much energy trying to convince everyone else not to believe right alongside them. Does it need to be a strength in numbers thing? I guess why I really find it all a little funny is that I consider myself very spiritual but not religious in any way. I've never once created a group or a story to try to convince others to be more spiritual.

It seems like both groups whether believers or non believers seem to suffer from the need to have others validate their view point. Things that make me go hmmmmm.

Serial cheating

Today I read a story where the author was talking about cheating and saying that they could not say that they would not do it again in the future. Fine. What surprised me was all the comments where everyone seemed to be agreeing where a passionate kiss was enough to override their sensibilities. What?!? There is nothing good about cheating and I have to wonder about the mindset of someone who has done it but somehow not learned from it. Its a sad comment on the human condition where we can just dismiss our actions and lack of responsibility with an "oh well" sort of comment. Anyone can make a bad decision but to do it again? I would hope that this group of people would at least have the decency to be honest about their lack of character with their current and future partners but somehow I doubt it. The common thought throughout the thread was that somehow given certain conditions their response was unavoidable. Bullshit. Cheat if you want but at least have the balls to take responsibility for that crappy decision. Good God. I feel so sorry for the partners of this sorry group of individuals. If you don't like your current situation then change it. Cheating not only makes you untrustworthy but in my opinion makes you a total wimp. No, its not easy to break off a current relationship before charting off into the unknown; but it's the right thing to do. I wish people like this would have a giant mark on their forehead so we could choose to avoid them.

A new trophy !!

After almost three years I just got a trophy celebrating my first blog. How funny is that? My blog of course has never worked from day one here and they only fixed it two days ago.

Hockey stinks!

You know, the other night when I was getting on my equipment for a pick up game a guy sat down next to me and opened his hockey bag and I nearly gagged from the stench. What the fuck? Do these guys have no sense of smell? Are they somehow immune to their own stink? I just don't get it at all. I like to smell good and as soon as I get home I spray down my equipment with sanitizer. I couldn't imagine just letting it get worse week after week. People really are gross. I wonder if the women players are better about it?
Anyone???
